Starting today, we’ve updated the internal team permissions for Staff vs. Admin users. Based on customer feedback, Staff users will no longer have access to the Billing App in Assembly.
What’s changed:

Staff users can’t access the Billing App, invoices, products, or the Billing tabs on client CRM profiles

QuickBooks and Xero integrations are hidden from Staff users

Billing-related notifications are turned off for Staff users
Admin users retain full access to everything. Contracts and all other features currently remain unchanged—Staff users can still access them. We’re working toward fully customizable roles in the future; this is a first step.

Why we’re making this change: Many of you told us you couldn’t add team members or use our billing tools because you needed to keep financial information private. Now you can.
What you should do:

If you have any current Staff users who need billing access, you can change their role to Admin in Settings > Team.

If you’ve been holding off on adding team members because they’d see your billing data, you can start bringing them on as Staff.

If you’ve avoided using Assembly for billing for the same reason, we’d love to have you give us another shot!
