If you add a company to a contact after the contact has already been created does that keep files separate for that person (company and contact) and likewise can everyone in that company see that contacts files?
Hi @Brett_Boogaerts,
Thank you for reaching out!
If a contact is created without a company, an individual file channel is automatically created for them by default. This file channel is only visible to that specific contact. If that contact is later added to a company, their individual file channel will remain intact and only they will be able to see the files within it. Company members will not have visibility into that contact’s individual file channel.
One thing to keep in mind is that when an already created contact is added to a company, a separate profile is created within that client’s portal for them to toggle between. One for their individual view and one for the company view. These are treated as separate profiles and do not merge.
We also have a Default Client Association setting in your workspace settings, which controls whether individual file channels are created for clients by default or not. If set to individual client channels, every client will have their own individual file channel created regardless of whether they are associated with a company during creation. If set to company channels, clients who are created with a company assigned during creation will not have an individual file channel created by default. However, your internal team can always manually create one if needed.
