is there a way to batch apps in one folder on the side panel? So that I dont have as many apps on the side. Would be cool to create categories of apps with a drop down you can open and close

Currently, you cannot batch apps into folders on the sidebar.
However, this is an open feature request we’ve received and I’ve added your +1

I’ll also boost this feedback myself, I left this same feedback in Slack at the end of February:
"Any possibility of creating a “roll up” view of the dashboard menu where we can group apps under a category/header?
Our use case - we provide account and tax services. Some embedded elements relate to one category or the other and for some of our clients the left menu can get pretty long at a glance and start to look a bit disorganized. Would love to be able to create my own category headers and then be able to nest the family of apps related to that category (e.g. “Bookkeeping”) under separate topical carrot menu drop downs so they’re better “organized” from the client facing perspective"
I see this feature becoming a pretty significant necessity in the near future for us!

This would be great.
I’d like it kept simple though so we can just add a menu item and then nest whatever we want underneath it - for example we use a forms system not directly supported so we would make embeds which would fine then group and order them under a menu item we have created ourselves.

Is there any news on this?
We would LOVE (and need) to be able to have an app icon on the left hand-side like “SEO” and then a client can see all their SEO apps under it
We have some clients with many services and without any foldering/nesting this becomes too hard ot manage.
Does anyone have a work-around in the mean time?
Thank you for following up on this! We’ve heard this feedback from many of our users and do have plans to address it on our roadmap in the future. While I don’t have an exact timeline on implementation, I’ve made sure to include this context for our product team so that we can appropriately prioritize. We will be sure to let you know once this is shipped!
Re-adding my affirmative to this feature request, same feedback as everyone else - our sidebar gets easily overloaded, would love to be able to nest by category/subject header!

Weekly our management and marketing team ask us about having folders or some sort of nesting in the portal.
We have clients who are struggling to use the portal now due to the amount of apps/services/reports they have.
We would want to nest with different categories like
SEO
- SEO Report
- SEO Roadmap
- X
- Y
- Z
We’re in a position now when we’re actually limiting ourselves what we can add to our portal for customers

I have to agree with you here.
I feel really tied by what I can add because it could so easily become a mess.
We are on an annual plan - hope this is available by renewal or to be honest I think I will start looking for another option a couple of months before.

We would really love this or may have to look elsewhere, we need to be able to folder/group apps

If you’re in Launchpad, our beta group, you can click on ‘App Library’ in the left sidebar and set up your folders. If you’re not in our beta program, make sure you’re in a paid plan and send a message to support@assembly.com and we can get you added today! Alternatively, if you wait until mid March, this feature will roll out to GA for everyone (along with many other new things)
