Is there a publicly viewable Roadmap for planned developments to co-pilot/assembly?
I was quite surprised by the re-brand today as we hadn’t received any communication about - though totally get why it’s been done. But it made me think we’ve had a lot of support tickets and chats about real world improvements that would help us and been told most of the time they are on the roadmap - but since we opened our account in March i can’t think of any updates that have been of any relevance to us as a company.
If there is a public roadmap it would be cool to review it so we can give some proper consideration to whether we want to renew in March or we’d be better off looking for something else.
This isn’t meant to be a bashing post - just need to get an idea of whether any of these little things with a big impact are coming or not so we can give some proper thought to whether there would be something better for us.
It would really be helpful to allow us who actually embed applications in the platform for our customers to have a bead on what’s coming in the next 6-12 months. In many cases your features become our features we roll out to our customers- it would be meaningful to have a perspective on what is coming.
We get asked a lot about a public roadmap. The honest answer is we don’t have one and don’t plan to have one. The reason: things change faster than we can commit them to a calendar. Priorities shift, projects take longer (or shorter) than expected, and if we promise something and have to change course, it ends up feeling like we’ve let people down. We’d rather stay flexible and keep shipping than lock ourselves into promises we can’t always keep. Everything that rolls out is noted here: Assembly Updates
That said, here are some of the things we’re focused on a for the next few months!
Platform & API improvements: powering new apps like Xero integrations, audit logs, and enabling deeper automations (e.g. more complex Task App workflows).
A more customizable sidebar for clients and internal users, including folders.
Client home page revamp: more customizable, better design, and support for templates.
Custom app visibility improvements: Supporting rules with the newly launched company custom fields.
AI upgrades: making AI faster, more powerful, and better integrated into the rest of the platform.
Billing improvements: in-product refunds, a new billing homepage, and more.
Performance & stability: big push to ensure everything is snappy, especially with larger deployments.
Always appreciate feedback! So feel free to reply with what’s most important for you!
I don’t think a public roadmap has to be a major commitment to timeframes.
We have enagagment with quite a few systems in our business and the two major ones both have ‘roadmaps’ we can view neither has set dates, and I don’t think people generally or silly enough to think those dates would be set in stone.
Both the companies I am thinking off simply categorise the things on the roadmap to give us an idea of their focus and when it will happen.
One of them categorises things as:
working on it now
front of the queue
on the radar
each item just has a date estimate such as Q4-2026 - beta etc.
The other categorises things as;
Now
Soon
Low Priority
This company mark each item - as Big, Medium, Small - and again they give an timeframe estimate, they also use quarters. Each of the items on their roadmap though leads to a dedicated forum thread where the ask users to help them narrow down exactly how they want it to work asking questions of users and allowing users to point stuff out. They engage highly on the Now items - the Soon and low priority they just put out the rough idea and often put ‘talk among yourselves…we will be listening’ and don’t really respond to much, when they do respond it’s because it’s about to jump a category.
Only approved users can access the forums on the second company - I assume they worry a rival will come along and get the ideas and information for themselves. But with both all current clients can see the roadmap.
Appreciate you pointing out a couple of the items that you are focused on - they’re pretty vague so not really that helpful from a planning perspective.
From my perspective hopefully we will get some more info on the Client Home Page Revamp a couple of months before our renewal as for us that’s the biggest issue - the inability to create nested app and embed menus is preventing us from doing stuff as it gets a mess way too quickly.
