App refresh is too fast when editing tasks, templates, invoices

As I am adding tasks, task templates, invoices, etc., the builder refreshes in only a few seconds, loosing the work I’d started inputting. This happens in both the web version and the Windows desktop version.

For example, I create a task, try to type a description, but the builder refreshes back to the tasks home and the task and description I’d started then disappear., and are not saved in a draft or partially completed item or anything.

I work in an invoice to set a recurring billing cycle, and as I am selecting the options of frequency or something, it refreshes back to the invoices home.

I’m really loving what I think Assembly can do for my client management, but the lack of editing time is making customizing the tool to my needs almost impossible.

Is it possible to have the software both “continuously save” progress but also stay on the page/item I’m working on?

@Lauren_Steed - thanks for the detailed writeup, and sorry you’ve been running into this! I’d love to help.

A few questions so we can pin down exactly what’s happening:

  1. When you say “the builder,” can you confirm where you’re working when this happens? Assembly has a separate App Builder for custom apps, but based on your description (tasks, task templates, invoices) it sounds like you’re in the main workspace rather than the App Builder. If you can grab a screenshot of where you are working that would be helpful.

  2. Does the whole page reload — a flash, spinner, browser-style refresh — or does it just navigate you back to the Tasks/Invoices list without a full reload?

  3. Is there a consistent trigger, or is it purely time-based? For example, does it happen a set number of seconds after you land on the page, or specifically when you click into a field or open a dropdown (like the recurring frequency selector)?

  4. Are you signed into Assembly anywhere else at the same time — a second browser tab, another device, or the desktop app running alongside the web version?

  5. Is anyone else on your team seeing this, or is it just your account?

  6. If you’re able to grab a short screen recording of it happening, that would be the single most useful thing — even 15 seconds. You can attach it here or email it to us directly at support@assembly.com if you’d rather not post it publicly

Once we have that we can dig into the logs on our end and get you a real answer rather than a workaround.

I have experienced something similar when using a VPN.

Other Lauren is right, it was a VPN issue. Thanks for everyone’s help.
