Saving Invoices as Drafts

Would love to be able to save an invoice as a draft instead of having to charge the client from the start of setup.

Currently, you have to charge the person immediately when creating a new invoice. We have clients that have agreed upon milestones for projects and I would love for my team to be able to set up the scheduled invoices and save them as drafts without sending them to the client immediately.

I know it has been brought up before, but it would also still be extremely helpful to take deposits on invoices as well instead of having to break it down into two separate invoices. This is a seriously much needed feature.

Hi @Garrett_Leonard,

Thank you for sharing this feedback!

In regards to your current workflow, here are a few workarounds you can consider in the meantime:

Draft Invoices
You can create the invoice and set the payment collection to manual, meaning the client won’t be charged automatically and your team can control when the payment is processed. It’s not a perfect solution but it does give you more control over the timing.

Scheduled Invoices
If your milestones are of the same amount and fall on regular intervals, our Subscriptions feature could work as a workaround to automate recurring billing. However, for milestone-based invoicing where the amounts vary, this would still need to be done manually at this stage.

Deposits
We completely understand how splitting into two separate invoices isn’t the most seamless experience, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience. Unfortunately this remains the only available workaround at this time.

These are genuinely valuable features and i’m happy to add you as a +1 for these features in an effort to reinforce the impact they would have.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions!

I would love to be able to track discounts or deposits on invoices and in the Billing screen. +1 for those features.
