Hello,
Is there an option to patch an existing app’s Content?
For context:
I see you can add an app using Create App connection and I can find the “content” for an existing app using List App connections, but is there anyway to update the “Content” for an app that already exists?
I don’t see this option listed in Make.com or in the API, but I see that we can retrieve that value.
Thanks for any help!
Hi @Anthony_Drozd! Thank you for reaching out! At this time, it isn’t possible to update an app connection through our API. Could you share more about your specific use case? I’d love to better understand your needs so I can pass along feedback to our team and explore whether this is something we could support in the future.
Looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks!
Hi Veronique!
What I’m looking to do is embed a link to a specific url for each client. It’s a google drive doc url. I can do this automatically using Airtable which is great.
However, I want to be able to update this link so they don’t have multiple docs showing in the app.
I know I could store these in the “Files” app, but I like the embedding better, as a lot of our clients are visual people and it would have more impact to actually see it live.
I’m open to any other suggestions if there is another way to achieve this. Please let me know if I explained it in enough detail.
Hi @Anthony_Drozd! Thanks for the clarification. That makes perfect sense. If you’d like to keep just one file in the app while being able to update the content, one option is to embed a Google Drive folder instead of an individual file. You can upload or remove files within that folder at any time, and because the folder’s embed link stays the same, you won’t need to update the embed link in the app.
This way, your clients can still view the content live, and you can manage what they see without creating multiple documents. Do you think this can work for you? Also, instructions on how to embed Google Drive can be found in our Copilot Guide here.
Hi Veronique!
Thanks for the suggestion. I’m testing it out to see if it provides the look i’m trying to provide our clients, but I ran into a 403 error. I have verified that both my admin email for Copilot and the user email for my client both have permissions to view this folder as an embed, but it still pops up. However, I also tried the url link option and that worked fine, but wasn’t what I was looking for.
Any suggestions on fixing this?
Also, i just thought about another way this might be possible, but I don’t know enough about Copilot yet so figure I’d ask. If I store the a url parameter (to the G Doc) as a custom field (Call it “Doc URL”), is there a way to create an app that embeds each person’s own custom field (Doc URL)? That would be the simplest solution, but i didn’t see a way to do that, although I may have missed it.
Thanks so much for your help!
Hi @Anthony_Drozd Thanks for reaching back out! I am sorry you are running into an error. If you want to embed entire folders from Google Drive, you will need to use an embed code generator, which can be found here. Can you please confirm that you used this? Thanks!
Regarding creating a custom app where a custom field is used as the URL for an embed—this is absolutely possible. In this setup, each client’s custom field value (for example, their unique Google Drive link) would act as the variable that gets inserted into the embed. This way, the app automatically pulls in the correct link for each client. You can find more details on creating a custom app here.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. I am here to help!
Hi Veronique!
So I had a chance to try embedding the google folder using the link provided, but it still shows a 403 error. I even tried making the sharing settings open to anyone with the link, but I still got the same error.
Regarding creating my own app, it might be outside my scope of knowledge, but if we decide we really want this feature, I’m happy we can explore an option to make it.
Thanks for your help!
Hi @Anthony_Drozd I am sorry to hear you are still having an issue with the Google Drive embed. Can you please email support@copilot.app, and we will investigate this further for you. Thanks!
