I’m using the helpdesk app from assembly builder and we added some extra features. But when a client asks a questions it’s coming back with:
“The assistant has reached its usage limit for now, so it can’t answer this one. Please try again later, or reach out to the team directly and they’ll help.”

In the app builder they say it’s an issue on the assembly side that has hit a ceiling and nothing they can do to fix it. Any idea what might be happening?

From the app builder:

> The honest bottom line. If the allowance is genuinely spent, nothing I write makes it answer — that ceiling resets or gets raised on Assembly’s side, and it’s worth raising with them. Everything above makes the app behave correctly and diagnosably when it happens, and stops it from contributing to the problem.

Hi @Brandan_Baki , thanks for reaching out! I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with your Helpdesk app.

Apps that use AI have a separate monthly usage quota, which is currently separate from the credits you have available for app building. I’m sorry this wasn’t clearer! We’re actively working to improve this.

I’ve reset your AI usage quota, so you should now be unblocked and able to continue using your app. If you run into this issue again, just reach out to us and we’ll be happy to reset the quota again.

Please let me know if there’s anything else I can help with. Always happy to help! 😃

Thank you for the help! Wondering if you’re planning to limit usage in the future though? That would change the way we’re planning to build or use what we’ve built.

We were going off of this in the FAQ, assuming there wouldn’t be limits after the build:

> **What are build credits?**
> Build credits are used when the app builder creates or edits an app. A typical app takes a few dozen credits to build from scratch, and smaller changes use less. Credits refresh every month on every plan. Using your apps does not consume build credits; once an app is live, you and your users can use it as much as you want.

Absolutely! At the moment, we don’t have any plans to restrict usage. The FAQ you referenced is referring to build credits, which are separate from AI usage limits. Once an app is live, using the app itself does not consume build credits, so that part of the FAQ still applies.

We’ve also increased your AI limit, so you shouldn’t run into this issue again. If you do, please let us know and we’ll be happy to unblock you.

The AI feature is still in early access, and while we’re thinking through what a fair and reasonable approach might look like in the future, we don’t have any immediate plans to charge for usage or introduce restrictions. If that changes down the line, we’ll make sure to communicate it clearly.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions. We’re always happy to help! 🙂
